There is nothing more romantic than breakfast in bed, right? Sweet pea and I take turns making it for each other pretty often :-) And French toast is that perfect breakfast that just says "I want to pamper you today." This recipe is made from the Cinnamon Raisin No Knead Artisan Bread Loaf I posted about recently. The key to really great French toast is using a high quality bread. And boy will you taste the difference! Pair it with a glass of orange juice and show the king or queen of your heart just how much you love them:-)
Cheri's Decadent French Toast
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp nutmeg
3 slices raisin bread cut about 1/2 thick
cooking spray
strawberries, bananas, & powdered sugar for garnish
Whisk together the egg, milk, brown sugar, and nutmeg until well combined.
Heat up a large skillet, spraying with cooking spray, to cover the pan completely.
Cut the raisin bread in half and dip the 6 pieces in the egg batter one at a time. Make sure the bread is completely covered with the batter. Add to the skillet and cook for about 1 minute on each side or until golden brown.
Add the strawberries, bananas, and sifted powder sugar to garnish. Makes a wonderful breakfast in bed!
