We have really gotten our money's worth out of our slow cooker. To me, it's the perfect solution for anyone with a full schedule. With just a few minutes of prepation in the morning, you can be away from home all day and come home to a delicious smelling kitchen and a wonderful meal. How great is that? This particular recipe uses Cola which acts as a tenderizer for particularly tough cuts of meat. And the results are fantastic! You get extra tender meat and a wonderful sauce. This goes so well with the Sour Cream Mashed Potaoes I posted about yesterday. We had it with steamed peas to make it a complete meal. So break out your slow cooker and give it a try. Your family will love it!
Slow Cooker Cola Beef
1 1/2 cups cola
1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp vinegar
2 tsp minced garlic
2 cups beef broth
1 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tsp chili powder
2 medium onions, chopped
2 1/2 pound beef roast
Place the onions in the slow cooker, then the meat on top of the onions. Mix together the remaining ingredients and pour this mixture over the meat. Cover and cook for 10 hours on low or 6 hours on high.
So easy & so good!
Makes about 10-12 servings
***Helpful Note***
Mix cornstarch and cold water together until combined and add to the sauce in order to thicken it to your liking.

I can just imagine how this tastes and can't wait to cook it myself to see! Growing up we used to call Coca Cola "rotgut" because of what it contains. But using it for cooking like this sounds simply divine..
ReplyDeleteHi Amateur Cook-
ReplyDeleteThe cola gives the beef a nice depth of flavor that tastes so good! Please let me know what you think after you try it. Thanks so much for your comment!
